Am I still eligible for a Gwara Edu Loan if I have already secured my admission into a US college without Gwara’s assistance?

Currently, Gwara Edu Loans are limited to ONLY Gwara Fellows. However, we will very soon be able to provide loans separately to students already admitted to a US college who require financial assistance. We recommend you enter your details here for pre-approval https://www.mygwara.com/loans, and we will contact you as soon we launch.

I wrote my GRE and passed the exams. Will I get a waiver when I apply to join the Gwara Fellowship since I already passed my GRE?

The application fee is a standard fee that we have put in place to have in order for Fellows to enjoy the full experience of the fellowship. We find many applicants do not achieve the required GRE scores for top schools so it is often worth it to attend the fellowship and retake the GRE as we help you with test prep and can help you improve your score. If you have a GRE score above 310 (quant minimum: 160), you may be eligible for up to 50% off the fellowship fee. If this is the case, please indicate this in your application.

Does Gwara offer scholarships?

Gwara offers Edu Loans to fund your education abroad. We do not offer scholarships. As part of the Gwara Fellowship, we will support you in creating a compelling application that will increase your chances of receiving a higher scholarship from the school.

Can you help me apply for a visa to the United States?

We will not apply for visas for you. The process is relatively straightforward and we will guide you through it. We pride ourselves on transparency and it is important for you to take charge of and have visibility of your own visa application as it may affect your immigration status going forward. If you receive a loan from us, we will provide the supporting financial documentation required by the American consulate.

If I am admitted into the US, will I be able to go and study since there was a recent visa ban by the US?

The visa ban is temporary (till December 2020) and serves to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Applicants taking part in the Gwara Fellowship will only commence school either in February or August next year (depending on the school’s specific intake date) and we do not expect Fellows to be affected.

What has been the impact of COVID-19 on admissions?

Applicants taking part in the Gwara Fellowship will only commence school either in February or August next year (depending on the school’s specific intake date) and we do not expect Fellows to be affected.
